Hi All,

I just added a Wiki page that explains how to use Foobar2000 (windows
only) to add ReplayGain tags to your Flacs and Mp3s.

You can find the page here:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?RGFoobar

Please feel free to add and update as you wish.

If you have questions or concerns about the page, you can discuss in
this thread.

Hi SS,

Nice job. A few comments/queries if I may?

- I note you've gone strong on the importance of Accurate Rip... I
don't use this myself, but the threads I've read in this forum seem to
have mixed conclusions. Do you think this is a "must have" or
optional?

- I note your process doesn't include Press F4 to dectect gaps. Don't
you think it should?

- You can clean up quite a few of those false wiki links - especially
in the ReplayGain page - by adding a ! before any word in CamelCase...
eg !ReplayGain

- you seem to have left an EACrippingv2draft page lying around
somewhere...

- you really should give yourself a credit at the bottom of the
page...

Regards

I merged my wiki page with street_samurai's, so it's in there now.

That's mine. It should be deleted but I don't know how. Any
suggestions?

Hey Ceejay,

Thanks for the constructive questions and queries... my responses

For an accurate rip, its important to have the correct Read Offsets for
your drive. There are a bunch of ways of finding this information,
searching Google works sometimes, searching the AccurateRip database
works sometimes... but the AccurateRip program works for every drive
every time... so it seemed the simplest way to find the Offset for the
purposes of the guide.

If you don't have the correct Read Offset then you'll be reading the
wrong information into every track that you rip.

Detecting gaps doesn't really give you any additional information or
functionality when ripping to individual tracks. The gap will be
determined by the playback software and the format you've ripped to. If
you were ripping to Cue Sheets and Images then the gap would be an
important thing to figure out before ripping.

Wow you must have looked at this very early version of this page
because I fixed those quite quickly after posting it!

Honestly not too worried about credit. I'm in the change history and I
didn't invent any of this information... I'm just re-purposing it for
Slim users. There have already been good changes to the guide by other
users... so I'm not too worried about this.

Thanks for the feedback!

- I agree about getting the offset right if you want a perfect rip, of
course (although I think someone recently pointed out that we are only
talking abut milliseconds here)... but you don't have to use
AccurateRip to get that, and I guess I thought it might be confusing to
conflate using Accuraterip with getting Offsets sorted out.

- not sure if there is some strange Caching going on somewhere, but the
version of the Replay Gain page that I'm seeing still has lots of false
wiki links for ReplayGain in it...

Nice work, though...
